About Me

My Background

My undergraduate degree is actually in Criminal Justice!  However thru my schooling and internships I realized my heart wasn't in arresting people over and over again.  It was my internship with probation that made me realize my passion was being on the treatment side of the programs people were being court mandated to.  I wanted to be that person at the treatment program making clients feel motivated to attend and like they were actually getting something useful out of it.  I wanted to help people change their lives for the better, in ways that they might not even be able to fathom at the start of treatment. Even more so, I saw a need for more clinicians out in the field of therapy who were available to serve those who serve us.  I enjoy helping first responders cope with the various stressors they face day in and day out in the context of their work as well as the lasting impact it has on all arenas of life long after clocking out at the end of the day.  So with those goals in mind! I went on to complete a Master of Social Work degree and on then to completing the clinical experience and supervision needed to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I've loved every day in this field ever since!

Grad School and Beyond...

My love for Social Work and all of the areas of a person's life it touches has only grown over the years.  I completed internships with DMHAS where I began to hone my case management skills to help those with more complex social and financial needs and another internship with an agency working with children in the foster care system and their families.
My passion of working with foster care youths, their biological families, and circles of support has grown to also include an enjoyment in working with all other types of families who have strained relationships that they wish to see improve.
My career has primarily been in acute care settings since graduating including local Emergency Departments doing risk evaluations and connecting people to appropriate mental health services, inpatient psychiatric units for both children/adolescents as well as adults, and finally as a Suicide Prevention subject matter expert working with the veteran population.
I look forward to taking all that I have learned in these various settings and applying it to my work with you! To help you achieve your ideal life in a way that makes the most sense for you!

What I value and how we will know if we are a good fit for one another moving forward with services:

Unfortunately there is no magic pill to cure the human experience. Lucky for us therapy has been found to help us ease our mental anguish, reduce stress, improve relationships, and a number of other things!
One of the things I value most about the social work profession is the code of ethics we are expected to follow.  Of these ethics the one that stands out to me most is the importance of human relationships and the self-determination of the clients we serve.
I have heard too many people say they don't feel therapy is working for them but in the same breathe say they haven't told their therapist they're feeling this way!  I hope none of my clients past or present ever feel this way when working with me.
It is with that in mind that I welcome all clients who feel motivated to come to treatment with a 'ready to work' mentality and I encourage you to always be open and honest with me as we work towards your goals.  If you feel like something isn't working for you, we can always try something new!  If something is working great for you, then let's double down on it! I truly feel therapy is only as good as the relationship between therapist and client- with you being the expert on all things related to your life and me being the expert on the theories and treatment modalities that have been successful with others experiencing similar things.
